Back Bar - Bartender

Overview

Somerville Back Bar, an award winning craft cocktail bar in Union Square, Somerville, is seeking a full-time bartender to round out its small but mighty team. Candidates must have:

• 2 years experience behind a bar
• Generalized spirits knowledge, including a comprehensive understanding of core denominations of origin (e.g. Tequila, Scotch, Bourbon, etc.)
• Comfortability with foundational technique and best practice, such as round-building from bottom up
• Familiarity with the canon of core cocktails, both classic and modern
• Experience with extended techniques such as clarification and fat-washing
• Willingness to work in a collaborative program in which learning, teaching, and guest priority are equally undying tenets
• Hospitality driven attitude, with a desire to provide memorable experiences to guests
• Ability to remain calm and polished in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
• Full availability – Tuesday through Sunday starting at 2pm
• Flexibility to cycle through all positions of the space (Main Bar, Service Bar, Host, Floor)

• Maintain guest-focused service in a fast-paced environment
• Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth service and guest satisfaction
• Uphold standards of beverage quality, presentation, and consistency
