Summary
The Nurse Practitioner (NP) III is a licensed provider. The NP III is responsible for assessing and managing various patient populations, including those with medical and/or surgical conditions, as well as providing diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, developing appropriate plans of care, and conducting ongoing evaluations. The NP III performs additional leadership and project responsibilities in the team/department.

Essential Functions- Provides direct care, counseling, and education to a designated patient population in ambulatory, inpatient, operative, and/or procedural settings.
- Performs complete histories and physical examinations.
- Orders, interprets, and evaluates appropriate laboratory and diagnostic tests.
- Develops appropriate plans of care and follow-up based on the outcomes of diagnostic, laboratory, and physical examination findings.
- Orders medications and writes prescriptions according to organizational and regulatory policies and procedures.
- Consistently provides high-quality and timely documentation, including admission and progress notes, procedure notes, operative notes, and discharge summaries.
- Performs bedside procedures as are appropriate to the patient population.
- Nurse Practitioners IIIs will also perform additional duties, including but not limited to: precepts a medium sized group of student learners; acts as a clinical resource in their division; creates and implements new clinical programs in division, prepares QI analyses and presents findings to department/organizational committee, and/or completes research outside of clinical role; presents at least 2 times/year at department meetings/specialty conferences/grand rounds/M&M.
Master's Degree Nursing required

Licenses and CredentialsAdvanced Practice Registered Nurse [APRN-NP - State License] - Generic - HR Only required
Experience6 years of experience as a certified nurse practitioner. 5-7 years required
Knowledge,Skills and Abilities
- Skilled in taking medical histories to assess medical condition and interpret findings.
- Ability to maintain quality control standards.
- Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
- Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures.
- Ability to communicate clearly and establish/maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical staff and the public.
