Position Summary
The PK Curriculum Implementation Team Member is an outstanding opportunity to support the implementation of a comprehensive, integrated, mixed-delivery early education system in Somerville, creating meaningful learning experiences for all students. The purpose of the Somerville Early Education Department is to ensure that all children have equitable access to rich learning environments and experiences so that they can thrive every day and in every way.
Work with the Early Education and Care Department to support the implementation of the SEE Every Child Curriculum during the Monitoring Phase of the Curriculum Cycle. The curriculum implementation team observes the progress of students and educators with the newly implemented curriculum. This is an intentionally lighter phase, as those involved continue to build upon their initial experiences with the new curriculum.
This will improve equity, consistency, and effectiveness of students’ educational experiences across the district and mixed-delivery system.
- Support curriculum alignment throughout the district, across schools, and within grades.
- Participate in teamwork toward curricular alignment across the mixed-delivery system.
- Give feedback and/or revise curricular documents (Proposed Language & Literacy Scope & Sequence).
- Review student and educator feedback on the curriculum to identify opportunities for modification and enhancement.
- DESE license and teaching experience in the relevant grade level and content area.
- Demonstrated skills and expertise in the subject area.
- Experience differentiating instruction and making content accessible to a range of learners.
- Familiarity with best practices and research-based strategies for curriculum development.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Capacity to build trust and ownership among educators.
- Possesses attributes of resilience, humility, and risk-taking.
- Previous experience teaching or facilitating professional development preferred.
- Advanced degree preferred.
- Must hold a SEU Unit A-eligible position.

Up to 13 total hours
- Up to 6 1.5-hour after‑school meetings throughout the year. Compensation for the after‑school hours will be paid at the contracted rate.
- Up to 4 asynchronous hours for work outside scheduled meetings. Compensation for the after‑school hours will be paid at the contracted rate.
