Junior Accountant

Overview

A mission-driven nonprofit organization in Somerville, MA is seeking a Junior Accountant to join its finance team. This is a great opportunity for an early-career accountant interested in nonprofit work and community impact.

Location:

Somerville, MA (Hybrid – 2 days onsite). Salary: $60,000 per year.

Schedule:

35 hours per week | Full-Time | Non-Exempt.

• Process accounts payable and accounts receivable
• Review and code vendor invoices to the general ledger
• Assist with bi-weekly payroll processing and resolve payroll discrepancies
• Prepare A/R and A/P reports and journal entries
• Assist with monthly reconciliations and financial reports
• Prepare credit card reconciliation packets for Board review
• Support quarterly reviews and annual audit preparation
• Work with department leaders to ensure accurate financial data

• 2+ years of accounting experience (or 1+ year plus internship and relevant degree)
• Experience with Quick Books
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to work collaboratively in a small team environment
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office or Google Workspace

• Nonprofit accounting experience
• Experience with or similar AP software
• Experience with Paylocity or a payroll system
