Maintenance Carpenter​/Joiner — Bespoke Woodwork & Campus Ops

Millfield School is seeking to recruit for two full‑time positions within our dedicated maintenance team:

1. Maintenance Carpenter / Joiner
2. Maintenance Carpenter / Handyperson

This role is ideal for a skilled and experienced Carpenter/Joiner who can undertake high‑quality repairs, installations and bespoke joinery, using both traditional techniques and woodworking machinery.

• Maintain and repair wooden fixtures, furniture, doors, and windows
• Manufacture and install bespoke joinery items
• Operate woodworking machinery safely and efficiently
• Ensure compliance with health and safety standards

• Proven carpentry/joinery experience
• Skilled in woodworking machinery and hand tools
• NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent in Carpentry & Joinery
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently

This role suits someone with strong carpentry skills combined with broader maintenance experience, supporting the wider needs of a busy school campus.

• Maintain and repair fixtures, furniture, doors, and windows
• Carry out general carpentry repairs using hand and power tools
• Support wider maintenance tasks as required across the estate, including assisting with campus operations and logistics such as room setups, furniture moves, and contractor supervision
• Ensure compliance with health and safety standards

• Proven experience in general carpentry maintenance or handyman work
• Ability to manage workload across a large campus / estate
• Strong understanding of health and safety requirements
• Ability to work independently and as part of an estates team
• Good communication, organisation, and prioritisation skills
• Flexible, reliable, enthusiastic and proactive approach

Both positions are year‑round, Monday to Friday, 8am–5pm, with a competitive salary dependent on experience.
