Join the culinary team at POON'S, a historic brand with a rich 50‑year legacy, now operating its first permanent restaurant at the iconic Somerset House in London. Working directly with owner Amy Poon, you will be part of reviving a Michelin‑starred legacy that celebrates authentic Chinese home cooking in one of London’s most prestigious cultural destinations.
About POON'SPOON'S is not your typical Chinese restaurant. We focus on authentic Chinese home cooking – dishes served in Chinese homes daily but often unfamiliar in the West. Our philosophy is "very simple, very clean, and very seasonal," creating the warmth and authenticity of home‑cooked Chinese food in an elegant setting. With a family culinary history that includes ancestors who cooked for Chinese emperors, we are bringing generations of expertise to Somerset House.
The RoleAs Sous Chef at POON'S, you will:
- Support the Head Chef in daily kitchen operations within our state‑of‑the‑art, purpose‑built kitchen
- Help execute our menu featuring signature dishes like claypot rice, Magic Soup, and other authentic Chinese home cooking specialties
- Maintain the highest standards of food quality and presentation
- Train and supervise junior kitchen staff
- Assist in inventory management and food cost control
- Work with quality British ingredients alongside fine Chinese ingredients
- Help maintain our commitment to authentic techniques and family recipes
- Collaborate with the team to educate London about authentic Chinese home cooking
