The Town of Somerset is seeking applications for the position of Meter Reader/Cross Connection Operator at the Water Department. This is a full‑time position of 40 hours per week with a starting salary of $700.13 per week and opportunities for annual step increases based on performance and tenure within the pay scale.
Candidates must possess a High School diploma or equivalent, and 1 to 3 years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, certification, and experience. A valid Class D Massachusetts Driver’s License is required. Candidates must also have knowledge of relevant Massachusetts General Laws related to essential functions, water treatment and distribution operations, and specialized tools and equipment including water meters, testing devices, hydrants, pumping stations, cross connections and water sampling protocol.
Working knowledge of Department of Environmental Protection regulations as they pertain to the position is required as well.
