Position Summary The Receiving Associate is responsible for accurately receiving, inspecting, and processing inbound shipments to ensure inventory is properly recorded, labeled, and available for distribution. This role supports warehouse efficiency and inventory accuracy by verifying quantities and product condition against purchase orders and shipping documents and entering receipt information into the warehouse management system.
This role may support receiving operations in either ambient (dry) warehouse areas or temperature-controlled environments, including cooler and freezer spaces.

Status: Full-Time
Shift: Monday – Friday, 1st shift
Hours: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM (overtime as needed). Because we’re a customer order-driven operation, end times aren’t fixed – we work until the day’s work is complete.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Starting Pay: $15.00 - $15.50/hr
  • Monthly Bonus Potential: This role is eligible for a monthly bonus for contributing to efficient inbound operations.

Essential Functions

  • Receive inbound deliveries from suppliers, carriers, or internal transfers
  • Safely unload goods using appropriate material handling equipment, including forklifts, pallet jacks, and reach trucks
  • Verify shipments against purchase orders, bills of lading, and shipping documents; confirm quantities, item numbers, and UPCs
  • Inspect inbound goods for damage, defects, contamination, or labeling issues and identify, document, and communicate discrepancies (e.g., shortages, overages, wrong items, damages)
  • Segregate damaged, expired, or otherwise non-conforming product in accordance with warehouse standards
  • Accurately record receipts, generate receiving documentation, apply pallet identification, and ensure product traceability within the Warehouse Management System (WMS)
  • Stage received goods in designated receiving or staging areas and coordinate or perform putaway as needed, following FIFO, FEFO, or other inventory rotation requirements
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe receiving dock and work area
  • Follow all warehouse safety procedures, material handling standards, and applicable regulatory requirements, including food safety and hazardous materials compliance
  • Communicate effectively with warehouse associates, supervisors, buyers, inventory control, and purchasing teams to support efficient warehouse flow and timely problem resolution
  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts related to receiving accuracy, safety, and operational efficiency

Qualifications / Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and remain organized in a fast-paced warehouse environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Basic computer literacy, including email and warehouse management systems
  • Basic math skills required for verifying quantities and documentation
  • Relevant warehouse, receiving, or inventory experience preferred
