Key RolesEnsures the proper and safe operation and maintenance of coal and ash handling equipment associated with the delivery, stockpiling, and processing of coal and the retrieval, processing and disposal of ash and the delivery of lime and ammonia.
Key Responsibilities- Operates all coal handling equipment in a safe, reliable & efficient manner.
- Troubleshoots and repairs hydraulics on equipment.
- Operates various coal handling equipment: dozer, loader, backhoe, roller, grader, cherry picker, trucks, coal conveyor system, tractor, and bush-hog.
- Assists with coal sample gathering.
- Operates and maintains dust suppression systems (coal & road).
- Provides assistance to other work groups as requested and performs other duties as assigned.
- Collect tripper coal samples
- Operate coal crushers/conditioners, coal sample auger, coal tripper, and truck weigh scales
- Prepare coal samples for transport off site
- Operate reclaim hopper feeders
- Maintain/inspect/troubleshoot the coal tripper
- Perform preventive maintenance on coal sampling equipment (i.e., automatic sampler and auger sampler)
- Compact coal pile
- Bag and identify coal samples
- Start and stop coal conveyors
- Adjust flow of ash and water to mixer
- Clear clogs/blockages in silo
- Operate ash hauling truck
- Shut down ash loading system
- Start ash loading fluidizing compressors and ash loading mixers
- Stop ash loading fluidizing compressors and ash loading mixers
- Wash down ash loading bay and ash loading control area
- Compact landfill with roller
- Operate straw blower
- Use dust suppression methods such as foam sprays
- Add links to sprocket chains
- Inspect and replace side skirts
- Isolate conveyor belt equipment
- Grease bearings on take-up pulleys
- Remove links from sprocket chains
- Repair crushers
- Replace conveyor belt scrapers
- Repair counter weight pulleys, hopper vibrators, reclaim feeders, track hopper feeders, and trippers.
- Replace bearings
- Monitor belt scales
- Maintain crusher
- Replace hammers and screens and lubricate material handling equipment and components
- Oil/lubricate sampler components
- Put motor coupling on the sample auger hydraulic unit
- Replace sampler mill hammers and screens
- Initiate work requests
- Operate lime hydration equipment control process
- Clean out lime transfer feeders and blowers
- Unplug lime transport plug
