Responsibilities- Contribute to the documentation of the health and serviceability of a multitude of bridges comprised of different materials and designs.
- Contribute to the documentation of the health and serviceability of culverts comprised of different materials and designs.
- Contribute to the documentation of channel cross‑sectional data.
- Utilize a myriad of tools to record and submit inspection data to the Federal Government.
- Utilizing computers to input data.
- Learning terminology commonplace in construction and maintenance.
- Utilizing basic hand tools and access equipment.
- Utilizing GPS and physical maps for navigation and obtaining terrain data.

Minimum Requirements EducationHigh school graduate.
Experience, Training, or SkillsTwo years of bridge inspection experience under the supervision of a National Certified Bridge Inspector OR eight years of highway related experience in maintenance or construction.
Substitute Education for ExperienceLicensure as a professional engineer by the Kentucky Board of Engineers and Land Surveyors will substitute for the required experience and education. An Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) accredited bachelor’s degree in engineering will substitute for the required experience and education. An ABET accredited associate’s degree in engineering technology with one year of bridge inspection experience under the supervision of a National Certified Bridge Inspector will substitute for the required experience and education.

Working ConditionsWork is performed in the office and in the field. Will be exposed to risks inherent to bridge construction sites, including extreme temperatures, heights, and working in and over water, which may require the following of safety procedures.
