Salary:$27 - $32 per hour, depending on experience
Who we are:Our client is a privately held manufacturing company in Solon, OH. They design and manufacture equipment for the military, specializing in everything from metal fabrication and CNC machining to advanced wet paint and powder coating operations.
Paint Supervisor Role:This role exists to lead the Coatings Departments, overseeing both wet polyurethane painting and powder coating operations to ensure high‑quality production. The supervisor is responsible for maintaining production flow and schedule adherence while managing personnel in a union environment.
Responsibilities:- Assign daily work and schedule weekly labor in a union environment to meet monthly production plans
- Ensure daily preventive maintenance activities are completed on all coating equipment
- Maintain an organized paint storage area and ensure compliant storage and disposal of materials in accordance with regulations
- Review daily labor utilization and efficiency reports to implement process improvements
- Conduct daily meetings with production support staff to review material availability and product build priorities
- Develop and manage monthly paint and powder coat schedules including short‑run planning and color changeovers
- Perform weekly cycle counts of coatings and paint supplies to verify inventory aligns with sales orders
- Generate purchase requisitions for coatings, primers, and related supplies as needed
- Train new and existing employees on mix ratios, coating thickness specifications, and quality standards
- Maintain a safe work environment and serve as an active member of the Company Safety Committee
- Ensure full EPA compliance by maintaining required records and submitting annual permits
- Collaborate with Engineering on new product introductions and equipment improvements
The Paint Supervisor reports directly to the Operations Manager. This role works closely with Assembly, CNC/Machining, and Welding Supervisors and is responsible for conducting annual performance evaluations for department employees.
About You:- Possess 5+ years of experience managing a paint or coatings department in a manufacturing environment
- Demonstrate strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills
- Maintain proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Utilize ERP systems for work order management, inventory review, and efficiency reporting
- Apply in-depth knowledge of wet paint and powder coat processes to daily operations
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications accurately
- Work independently and collaboratively in a team‑based environment
- Understand and adhere to union contracts and shop rules
- Maintain compliance with all OSHA and EPA regulations
