Job Details

Job Title: Nights Care Support Worker

Location: Dassett Road & Community

Salary: £12.21 per hour (12.5% weekend premium)

Reporting to: A Coordinator, Team Leader, or Registered Manager at Community Support Services

Hours: 24-36 hours (12 hour shifts)

Job Purpose

Community Support Services provide care for supported living clients who live at Dassett Road, plus some clients who live in the community. The aim is to support with care needs and develop individuals on how they want to improve their lives. Care Support Workers are required to:

  • Treat service users with dignity and respect.
  • Provide a safe and stimulating care environment.
  • Ensure all care provided is person centred and not within a ‘one size fits all’ approach.
  • Engage meaningfully with all clients with extra care and attention for those with significant mental health conditions or issues.
  • Complete all assigned training courses in a timely manner.
  • Read service user care plans, incorporating guidance into their methods of care and communication.
  • Assist service users with personal care needs.
  • Dispense medication in an accurate, safe, and timely manner.
  • Help service users keep their living environment clean and tidy.
  • Collect and drop off clients in their own vehicle.
  • Use a company vehicle when required to do so.
  • Help clients to consume food and drink, including assistance in the preparation of meals.
  • Fill in health and safety documents as and when required to do so.
  • Complete daily recordings relating to client welfare.
  • Attend team meetings to discuss recent developments.
  • Check ‘Slack’ and work emails on a regular basis to stay informed.
  • Use DSCR One Touch and other digital systems to record care activities, access service user information, and communicate with the wider team.
  • Follow current public health guidance regarding infection control and testing.
  • Carry out other reasonable management requests to protect the health of service users throughout the trust.
  • Comply with other ad hoc requests from their line manager.
Personal Attributes

The following personal attributes are required:

  • Experience of providing care, including informal care settings at home.
  • Calm when dealing with service users and keen to provide a stimulating care environment.
  • Enthusiastic and passionate about caring for vulnerable adults with learning disabilities, mental health problems, and memory problems.
  • Willing to attend practical and online training courses.
  • Comfortable using digital tools and systems, with a basic level of digital literacy to support accurate record keeping and effective communication.
  • Flexible, working overtime when required.
  • Willing to work with volunteers.
  • Display genuine compassion and respect for vulnerable service users.
  • Recognises the seriousness impact public health emergencies have on vulnerable people, and understands that future public health emergencies may require precautions, including vaccination mandates as directed by health authorities.
Education & Qualifications
  • Preferably ‘C’ grades in Maths and English at GCSE level or equivalent.
  • A health & social care qualification would be desirable, but demonstratable care experience will be acceptable at an interview.
