The Role

My client is seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join our growing team in Solihull. This is a key technical leadership role responsible for delivering high-quality electrical building services designs across a diverse portfolio of projects.

You will lead electrical design from concept through to completion, provide technical oversight, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities

🔹 Technical Leadership & Design

Lead electrical building services design across multiple projects.
Produce detailed design calculations, specifications, reports, and drawings.
Design systems including:
LV power distribution
Lighting & lighting controls
Emergency lighting
Fire alarms
Data & communications
Security systems
Renewable technologies (where applicable)
Ensure compliance with UK regulations and industry standards (BS, IET, Building Regulations).
Undertake site surveys, inspections, and commissioning reviews.🔹 Project Management

Manage project deliverables from feasibility to handover.
Prepare fee proposals and support resource planning.
Monitor project budgets and timelines.
Attend and lead client meetings, design team meetings, and site coordination meetings.🔹 Client & Stakeholder Engagement

Act as a key point of contact for clients.
Build and maintain strong professional relationships.
Provide technical advice and innovative solutions aligned with client objectives.🔹 Mentorship & Team Development

Support and mentor junior engineers and technicians.
Review and check technical work produced by team members.
Contribute to knowledge sharing and continuous improvement within the team.

About You

We are looking for a proactive and technically strong individual who demonstrates:

Degree in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
Minimum 5+ years' experience in electrical building services design in the UK.
Chartered status (CEng) or working towards chartership.
Strong knowledge of UK building regulations and standards.
Proficiency in design software (e.g., Amtech, Dialux/Relux, AutoCAD, Revit).
Excellent communication and leadership skills.
Commercial awareness and problem-solving capability.
Full UK driving licence (desirable).
