Summary
As a top Life Safety and Electronic Security firm focused on government infrastructure projects, we are looking for an experienced Quality Control Manager
. This role will support an upcoming project to upgrade civil infrastructure, telecommunications and fiber systems, as well as fire alarm systems, at a military base in Alaska.
This position is contingent upon contract award, and work location would be Shemya Islank, AK
Responsibilities- Oversee all safety and health compliance on the construction site as the Quality Control Manager. Work closely with the project management team to create, implement, and uphold a safety and health program that meets all relevant local, state, and federal regulations.
- Design, apply, and update a detailed site‑specific Safety and Health Plan following OSHA and EM 385-1-1 guidelines.
- Prepare, execute, and maintain a project‑specific Quality Control Plan (QCP) that fulfills project requirements and incorporates industry best practices.
- Carry out frequent site inspections to spot possible hazards, check quality compliance, and suggest corrective steps to minimize risks and resolve non‑conformities.
- Record inspection results, keep precise and current quality control documentation, and report any deviations or non‑conformities to project management.
- Deliver training on safety and quality control procedures, making sure all personnel follow established protocols and standards.
- Keep thorough and updated records of all safety and quality‑related documents, such as incident reports, training logs, inspection summaries, and meeting minutes. Lead investigations into accidents, incidents, and quality concerns to find root causes, recommend solutions, and prevent repeated issues.
- Serve as the main contact for safety, health, and quality matters, coordinating with regulatory agencies, subcontractors, and clients. Work together with project management to ensure safe and quality‑compliant planning, scheduling, and performance of all project activities.
- Encourage a strong culture of safety and dedication to quality among team members through ongoing communication and reinforcement of best practices.
- Other duties as assigned.
- At least five years of combined experience as a Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) or Quality Control Representative on construction projects, ideally within military or government settings.
- OSHA 30‑hour Construction Safety Certification.
- EM 385‑1‑1 coursework and hands‑on experience.
- Certification in Construction Quality Management (CQMC).
- Valid First Aid, CPR, and AED certification.
- Comprehensive understanding of relevant local, state, and federal regulations pertaining to safety, health, and quality standards.
Skills and Abilities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks efficiently.
- Willingness to work on‑site in Fairbanks, Alaska, for the duration of the project.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Strong written communication skills, including grammar, spelling, and the ability to present technical information clearly and effectively.
