Staff Accountant

Overview

A well-established and growing real estate organization that is focused on the acquisition, development and management of commercial properties is seeking a Staff Accountant to join their talented team. The successful candidate must be self-driven and detail-oriented, as well as being a critical thinker with strong communication skills.

• Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting principles and company policies
• Journal entries including accruals and prepayments
• Assist in the preparation and production of accurate monthly financial statements for a portfolio of properties
• Variance analysis
• Work closely with Property Management to monitor tenant accounts and respond to enquires
• Assist in annual budget process
• Support Asset Management and Acquisitions groups with financial analysis
• Work closely with other departments, including Asset Management and Acquisition groups, to support their accounting needs and provide financial insights as required
• Special projects as needed

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 1-2 years of progressive accounting experience
• Solid grasp of accounting principles, general ledger, and financial reporting
• Systems savvy including solid Excel skills
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
