What are you going to do?

We are looking for a motivated calculator to join our team. You will be supported internally by experienced colleagues to make sure that you can execute your work in a proper way.
In this position, you are responsible for developing projects and estimating labor and material costs.
Communicating and advising financial costs and project timelines to sales and project managers to help them win their bids. You must have a keen eye for detail and skills in estimating projects from a helicopter view to accurately meet our client's expectations.

What does your day look like?
Most of the quotes that you work on are submitted in competition, where the budget forms a large part of the award of the contract. Quality is also an important part of the bid. Therefore, you must submit not only budgetary costs and analysis but in some cases also a quality report. As a calculator, you are involved in small, one-off projects, but certainly also in larger, long-term projects of several years.

A regular day of an estimator:

• Clarifying the customer's needs and expectations and meeting project and tender deadlines in a timely manner;
• Reviewing projects by identifying project requirements regarding quality, timelines, and budgeting for labor and material costs;
• Analyzing plans, working drawings, and other project documentation to estimate costs;
• Reading blueprints and analyzing all other applicable documents to prepare estimates;
• Collaborating with contractors, subcontractors, engineers, suppliers, designers, and architects during the preparation of the estimate to ensure overall accuracy;
• Calculating the costs of materials, transport, labor, and equipment (rent);
• Owning the entire process of calculations, analysis, and adjustment of estimates;
• Compiling RFQs to obtain quotes from suppliers in close collaboration with our purchasing department;
• Presenting estimates to internal customers within the specified time frame;
• Making recommendations for cost reduction options;
• Carrying out regular risk assessments;
• Assisting the sales team in the preparation of the final quotation;
• Maintaining thorough records of all project documentation, including drawings and quotations;
• Preparing a project cost management document for project management;
• Using specific calculation software and having a good command of general software such as Excel;
• Staying informed about inflation, exchange rates, and projected timescale costs.

Who are you?

• You have an HBO diploma, preferably in engineering, construction, or a similar relevant field.
• You are numerically strong.
• Experience in the field of estimating, estimating and calculating is an advantage.
• You have the ability and willingness to work independently as well as in a team.

You also have the following properties:

• Interpersonal communication, both written and oral.
• Critical thinking, analytical skills, and organizational skills.
• Being able to read and understand (construction) drawings and designs.
• Time management.
• You are a Dutch and English speaker.
• You are available immediately.
