Full Time Nights – LPN Med Surg Surgical Unit at Piedmont Eastside. The unit currently has 36 Med/Surg (Surgical Dept.) beds serving our community.
OverviewKey responsibilities include post‑surgical management, bariatric surgery, sepsis, pneumonia, COPD, diabetes, osteomyelitis, and pancreatitis. The unit practices bedside report handoff at shift change, purposeful rounding, quality initiatives such as pain assessment, pressure ulcer prevention, infection control, and uses the EPIC computer system.
ResponsibilitiesThe Licensed Practical Nurse provides nursing care under the supervision of an RN or provider to patients from birth through life cycle utilizing the nursing process in accordance with Piedmont Healthcare’s mission and vision. The LPN guides ancillary staff, collaborates with other health‑care professionals, and blends compassion, caring, and technology‑appropriate competency for holistic patient care.
Essential Functions- Performs patient assessments as designated by RN or provider.
- Evalues developmental age when performing assessments, treatments, and education.
- Organizes patient data into a plan of care, identifies additional information needed, and makes care decisions.
- Carries out plan of care to achieve desired outcomes.
- Provides patient care specific to setting, identified needs, and plan; ensures appropriate care for disease severity.
- Oversees ancillary and support team activities.
- Identifies teaching opportunities and provides resources for patient education.
- Communicates issues to Charge Nurse, Clinical Manager, or physician as appropriate.

New graduates from an accredited nursing school are eligible. Preferred are LPNs with hospital setting experience. If applying to the Emergency Department, ALS/ACLS and PALS are required; new LPNs will complete applicable certifications within 6 months.

Minimum
Education Required:
Graduate of an LPN program.
Minimum Experience
Required:
New graduates of an accredited nursing school are eligible.
Minimum Licensure/Certification Required by Law: Current LPN license in the state of Georgia or NLC/eNLC Multistate License; BLS certification required.
Additional Qualifications: Demonstrated clinical competency in the specialty area applying for preferred. LPNs new to specialty will complete applicable certifications within 6 months of start date. Experienced Emergency Department nurses will have 6 months to obtain the PALS certification.
