Piedmont Eastside Medical Center - Emergency Dept.
We are looking for positive, self‑motivated, engaged, and growth‑oriented individuals to join our team.
Department Highlights- 38 bed Emergency Department that sees an average of 160 patients a day with various acuities.
- Primary Stroke and STEMI receiving facility that can administer thrombolytics.
- Two helicopter pads on campus for utilization.
- 5 PODs in the department; patients are assigned based on acuity.
- Dedicated Behavioral Health Pod.
- Team includes Charge nurses, ED Flow Coordinators, Paramedics, ED Techs, PCTs, Mental Health Technicians and Unit Secretaries who collaborate closely with ED Providers.
- All staff must have a BLS certification.
The staff nurse provides nursing care to patients from birth through the lifecycle utilizing nursing processes to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care. The staff nurse functions within the organization’s policies and procedures and demonstrates professional growth and accountability.
Essential Functions- Perform patient assessments, collecting data regarding the patient’s physical, psychosocial, and health history.
- Appropriately evaluate the developmental age of the patient when performing assessments, treatments, and patient/family education.
- Organize patient data into a plan of care; identify additional information needed and make care decisions based on identified needs, including expected patient outcomes.
- Carry out plan of care to achieve desired patient outcomes.
- Provide patient care specific to the setting, identified needs, and plan; ensure care is appropriate to the severity of the disease, condition, impairment, or disability.
- Oversee activities of ancillary and support team members.
- Identify teaching opportunities and provide resources necessary for achieving patients’ educational goals.
- Communicate issues/concerns to the Charge Nurse, Clinical Manager, and/or physician as appropriate.
- Document patient care and concerns in the patient record.

Minimum Education Required
- Graduate of a nursing program
- New Graduates of a nursing program eligible
Licensure/Certification Required By Law
- Current License in the State of Georgia as a Registered Nurse or NLC/eNLC Multistate License.
- BLS certification required.
- For PRN positions:
One year of nursing experience in a hospital setting is required - Bachelor's degree preferred
- Advanced certification in field of specialty, if applicable (see addendum)
