PAY & BENEFITS
Pay for Maintenance Tech I begins at $45,032.11 yearly and is based upon applicable experience.
Pay for Maintenance Tech II begins at $52,881.38 yearly and is based upon applicable experience.
In addition to the base salary, this full-time position is eligible for an annual performance bonus as well as a longevity bonus.
BENEFITSPaid Holidays: 13 days.
Paid Time Off : 0-4 years of service = 23 days (7.08 hours per pay period).
Longevity Bonus:
Based on Years of Service.
Merit Pay:
Based on performance (Annual Salary increase and Bonus).

DescriptionThis classification performs various job duties involving HVAC, plumbing, electrical and carpentry skills. Duties and responsibilities include constructing small buildings, bathrooms, and repairing the same; hanging doors, framing walls, installing power outlets, unstopping sewer lines and performing construction and preventative maintenance on building and grounds for the Town of Smyrna. Under general supervision, reports to Building and Maintenance Manager.
The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. While this is intended to be an accurate reflection of the current job, management reserves the right to revise the job. Other duties may be required and assigned.
- Constructs various facilities to include shelters, bathrooms, and pavilions; digs footers, sets forms, trusses, and performs various electrical, plumbing, and carpentry tasks.
- Performs carpentry work which includes but not limited to hanging doors, building walls, building shelters, bathrooms and various cabinetry work.
- Performs commercial electrical work which includes but not limited to installing and testing plugs, lights, switches, wires, conduit; maintaining and repairing small motors, pumps generators or any other phase of electrical work.
- Performs plumbing work which includes but not limited to unstopping sewer lines from building(s) to street, commodes, sinks; repairs or replaces various plumbing fixtures and pipes.
- Performs preventative maintenance, installation and repair on HVAC and related devices.
- Performs installation and maintenance of traffic lights and intersection lighting; inspects, trouble shoots, and repairs control boxes, relay switches, and monitors.
- Performs manual labor work on grounds to include trimming, planting, mowing weed eating, trash pickup.
- Identifies, troubleshoots, and corrects problems encountered in the performance of carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC construction, maintenance, and repair.
- Follows purchasing procedures when ordering repair and replacement parts for equipment.
- Installs, maintains and removes holiday lights throughout designated areas in the Town.
- Works safely observing all OSHA, Federal, State, and City regulations. Reports any accidents immediately to supervisor.
- Any other duties as assigned by the Building, Grounds and Maintenance Manager.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must possess High school diploma or GED.
- Must possess a valid Tennessee Driver’s License.
- Two (2) years’ experience in two (2) of the following fields: electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and carpentry or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
- Must have or be able to obtain Traffic Signal Level I and Work Zone / Traffic Control Safety certifications within 1 year of employment.
- Must be able to correctly wear appropriate personal protective equipment when required (safety glasses, breathing mask, hearing protection, hard hats, safety harness).
