Essential Job Functions:

• Prepare bakery and deli items according to customer requests using proper equipment.
• Offer product samples to help customers discover new items or inquire about products.
• Inform customers of bakery and/or deli specials.
• Provide customers with fresh products in correct portions to prevent shrinkage.
• Recommend deli or bakery items to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Use bakery equipment such as refrigerators, freezers, slicers, and ovens according to guidelines.
• Prepare foods following temperature logs and cooking instructions.
• Measure, prepare, and mix ingredients as per recipes using kitchen utensils and equipment.
• Package, label, and inventory ingredients and merchandise properly.
• Check product quality for freshness and review "sell by" dates.
• Properly operate kitchen equipment like stoves, scales, fryers, steamers, etc.
• Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
• Report discrepancies in product ordering or shipping.
• Understand store layout and locate products for customers.
• Stay updated with current and upcoming promotions and seasonal ads.
• Maintain knowledge of products and respond to customer questions and suggestions.
• Monitor inventory and stocking conditions, noting discrepancies.
• Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers, maintaining logs.
• Create a welcoming environment for customers and promote trust among staff.
• Follow all food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Adhere to safety procedures, identify unsafe conditions, and notify management.
• Inspect equipment and notify management of repairs needed.
• Report customer or employee accidents.
• Work cooperatively in a high-paced environment and manage conflicts appropriately.
• Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
• Follow directions and seek assistance when needed to resolve issues.
• Support interactions with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
• Perform all essential functions with or without reasonable accommodations.

Minimum Position Qualifications:

• Customer service skills
• Effective communication skills
• Basic math knowledge
• Ability to obtain a food handler’s permit after employment
