Electrical Inspector – Smyrna, TN (BVTA)
Join Bureau Veritas North America as an Electrical Inspector in Smyrna, Tennessee. The role involves performing QA/QC inspections of building systems—Electrical, Mechanical, Fire & Life Safety, and Structural components—to ensure compliance with codes and industry standards.
Responsibilities- Conduct on‑site inspections of building systems, structural integrity, and safety compliance.
- Collect and document data using web‑based programs, tablets, or other electronic tools.
- Review and analyze construction plans, specifications, and maintenance records for compliance with applicable standards.
- Identify deficiencies, hazards, or non‑conformance issues and recommend corrective actions.
- Prepare detailed reports summarizing findings, including photographs and supporting documentation.
- Ensure adherence to local, state, and federal codes, regulations, and industry best practices (ASTM, NFPA, NEC, ICC, ASME).
- Collaborate with engineers, architects, and other inspectors to maintain inspection consistency and quality control.
- Communicate inspection results and compliance issues to property owners, contractors, and stakeholders.
- Maintain project‑by‑project communication with senior management and provide information on potential issues during site deployment.
- High school diploma or GED required; some college preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years related experience in building inspection or a related field.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Certified Electrical Inspector (ICC Electrical
2) or Certified Electrical Plans Examiner (E‑3) preferred. - Proficiency in computer use and familiar with Microsoft Office, spreadsheet software, and project management tools.
- Strong written communication and report‑writing skills.
- Ability to interpret detailed plans and specifications.

- Time‑management and organizational skills.
- Effective presentation and stakeholder communication.
Work is performed on construction sites and may involve walking, standing, climbing ladders, and operating a motor vehicle. You may lift up to 40 pounds and operate handheld electronics in outdoor conditions with exposure to weather and electrical hazards.
Travel RequirementsTravel by plane, motor vehicle, or train up to 75–90% of the workweek to client sites across the United States. On‑site visits can last up to three continuous weeks and overnight stays may be required.
