Perform duties as the second in command for all special security operations with Georgia Tech (GT) to include satellite field locations. As such, the Assistant Director acts not only as an expert in the disciplines of Communication, Information, Operations, Personnel, and Physical security but also as a liaison between GT senior leadership, engineering, and Research security staff. The GT program encompasses Top Secret SCI/SAP information and data, thereby setting the highest standard for performance expected in the administration of a well‑integrated, effective security program within the laboratory assigned to this position.
Responsible for setting employee goals, assessing employee performance, providing feedback, and making pay recommendations. The position will interact on a regular basis with internal and external customers, including engineers, scientists, administrative support, laboratory management, senior GT and Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI) management, government security managers, government program managers, and vendors. The Assistant Director will advise and counsel GT/GTRI personnel and senior management, and supervise assigned staff.
- In conjunction with the Information Assurance Manager, ensures requirements are met concerning information systems security.
- Plan, organize, schedule, and assist in coordinating construction projects and all aspects of the Physical Security (PHYSEC) Program.
- Assist in oversight and management of the Communication Security (COMSEC), Information Security (INFOSEC), Operations Security (OPSEC), and Personnel Security (PERSEC) programs.
- Coordinate security education and training programs, visitor control requirements, required contractual documentation, special security subcontractor activities, and classified document control functions.
- Provide modernization budget inputs for unit planning.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience. - Other Required Qualifications

Experience with either a government agency or contractor organization; independent action and judgment in solving problems; after‑hours work, callbacks, and on‑call responsibilities. - Required Experience
:
Ten to twelve years of job‑related experience.
- Previous experience in a university environment.
Familiarity with the following computer/database products:
Security Information Management System (SIMS), Joint Access Database Environment (JADE) and its variants, Army Centralized Contracts and Security Portal (ACCS), Defense Information Security System (DISS), Microsoft (MS) operating systems, MS Office suites, and Linux operating systems; recognized credentials and acknowledged leadership by the U.S. Government security community; comprehensive understanding of U.S. Government security regulations/directives; excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
