Introduction
Registered Nurses, Advanced Practice Nurses, Nurse Consultants, Nursing Supervisors, Compliance Nurses, and Licensed Practical Nurses are eligible for a $10,000 recruitment incentive. Certified Nursing Assistants are eligible for a $5,000 recruitment incentive. In addition, a $7,500 incentive is available for Licensed Practical Nurses. Referring employees may receive $1,000 referral bonuses for each new hire. All incentives are paid in quarterly installments over the first year of employment and require a commitment to two consecutive years with DHSS.
New employees are required to be newly hired to the State of Delaware to qualify for the program.
The incumbent will administer medications, perform treatments as ordered, and prioritize residents' needs based on nursing diagnoses. They will solve clinical problems using the chain of command, assign duties to subordinates, monitor performance, and correct as necessary. The RN will work closely with the Medical Director, Nurse Practitioners, wound care team, geropsychiatric team, nursing administration, and external specialists and may act as charge nurse in the unit manager’s absence.
This position is essential, as the RN works closely with residents and their families.
- Provide or evaluate direct nursing care.
- Develop, implement, and/or review nursing care plans.
- Provide health‑care instruction and guidance to individuals, families, community groups, or nursing‑home facilities.
- Maintain an effective working relationship with other members of the treatment team.
- Prepare and submit records, reports, evaluations, and forms.
- Participate in and make recommendations regarding quality‑assurance activities.
- Possession of a Delaware Registered Nurse license, Delaware temporary license, or multi‑state compact license.
- Possession of a Bachelor's degree or higher in Nursing, OR at least one year experience as a Registered Nurse.
- Possession of a Delaware Registered Nurse license OR multi‑state compact license.
- At least two years’ experience as a Registered Nurse OR a Bachelor's degree or higher in Nursing and at least one year experience as a Registered Nurse OR a Master's degree or higher in Nursing.
- Possession of a Delaware Registered Nurse license OR multi‑state compact license.

Conditions of HireAll new hires must attend an in‑person, statewide mandatory New Employee Orientation on their first day of employment (location: Kent or New Castle County). A satisfactory criminal background check (estimated cost $85.00) and pre‑employment drug testing are required. All new hires must complete a 2‑Step TB/PPD test on their first day.
