Zing Recruiting, in partnership with a leading automotive manufacturing company in the Smithville, TN area, is seeking a Quality Control Assistant Manager to join their team! This role provides leadership over quality operations across all plants, focusing on process improvement, customer satisfaction, and employee development.

- Shifts Available:
Monday – Friday, standard business hours (may include occasional travel) - Assist in leading all quality operations across multiple plants in the automotive manufacturing industry
- Monitor and improve product quality, including overseeing internal audits, scrap reduction, and problem-solving initiatives
- Manage and mentor Quality Control personnel, ensuring proper training and adherence to industry standards
- Participate in committees such as Internal Defect Reduction and Preproduction Committees
- Analyze quality data and trends to inform strategic decisions and maintain compliance with ISO/IATF standards
- Support continuous improvement initiatives, including Kaizen activities
- Coordinate with production teams to address quality issues and implement corrective actions
- Assist with budgets and strategic business planning for the Quality Control department
The ideal candidate is an experienced Quality Engineer with strong leadership and technical abilities, ready to step into an assistant management role. They bring deep knowledge of automotive quality systems—including APQP, PPAP, FMEA, and IATF 16949—and are highly skilled in structured problem-solving methods such as 5-Why, Fishbone, and root-cause analysis.

- Is detail-oriented, collaborative, and comfortable in a fast-paced automotive environment where quality, compliance, and continuous improvement are essential
- Can interpret drawings, validate processes, and proactively identify risks while supporting both production and customer quality requirements
- Path A – No Post-Secondary
Education Required:- Minimum 5 years of experience in automotive manufacturing, including 3 years in a management role
- Proven success in new product launches and documentation management
- Toyota Production System (TPS) experience preferred
- Willingness to travel as needed
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Path B – Post-Secondary
Education Required:- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or related discipline OR Associate’s degree with 2+ years relevant experience
- Minimum 3 years managing a quality department of similar scope
- TPS experience preferred
- Strong documentation and launch planning skills
- Willingness to travel as needed
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills
- Experience in press/stamping operations and robotic welding systems
- Knowledge of APQP, PPAP, FMEA, and other core quality tools
- Leadership experience with cross-functional teams in high-volume production
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Proven ability to drive continuous improvement and lead Kaizen initiatives
