The Plant Controller serves as the senior financial leader at a high-volume manufacturing facility within a global industrial organization. This role partners closely with Plant Leadership to drive financial performance, operational efficiency, cost control, and strategic decision-making. The Plant Controller ensures financial integrity, strong internal controls, and alignment with corporate financial objectives while supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities Financial Leadership & Business Partnership- Act as a strategic business partner to the Plant Manager and site leadership team.
- Provide actionable financial insights to improve profitability, productivity, and cost management.
- Translate operational metrics into financial impact and performance improvement plans.
- Support capital investment decisions through financial modeling and ROI analysis.
- Oversee standard costing, variance analysis (labor, material, overhead), and inventory valuation.
- Monitor production performance, scrap, rework, and yield impacts on cost.
- Lead monthly close activities, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.
- Analyze manufacturing KPIs and recommend corrective actions.
- Lead annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting processes for the facility.
- Deliver timely and accurate financial reporting to corporate finance.
- Prepare detailed variance analyses and executive summaries.
- Ensure compliance with corporate accounting policies and GAAP requirements.
- Maintain a strong internal control environment in line with company and regulatory standards.
- Oversee inventory cycle counts and physical inventory processes.
- Support internal and external audits.
- Ensure adherence to financial policies, procedures, and ethical standards.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Provide coaching, training, and professional development.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA, CMA, or MBA preferred).
- 7+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, including manufacturing environment experience.
- Strong knowledge of cost accounting and ERP systems.
- Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams and communicate financial concepts to non-financial leaders.
- Experience supporting lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives preferred.
