Registered Nurse (RN) – Full Time – Nights – Med Surg

Opening in early 2026, Riverside Smithfield Hospital will bring high-quality healthcare closer to home for Isle of Wight County residents. Located on a beautifully landscaped 27-acre medical campus at 19339 Benn’s Grant Boulevard in Smithfield
, the new 200,000-square-foot, three-story facility will offer Emergency Department, Diagnostic Imaging Services, 38 Medical/Surgical beds, 12 ICU beds, and 4 Operating Rooms.

We anticipate start dates beginning Fall 2025.

• Assess patient clinical and psychosocial needs and apply standards of practice appropriate to the specialty or patient population.
• Partner with patients and families to develop, implement, and evaluate a plan of care that promotes physiological and psychosocial outcomes.
• Demonstrate a sense of urgency to facilitate patient throughput and ensure consistent, competent, and ethical care.
• Understand diverse patient populations, modify education methods for patient/family understanding, and deliver individualized patient and discharge education.
• Accurately complete all required clinical and quality documentation consistently per RHS standards and regulatory requirements.
• Delegate and prioritize tasks to ensure quality patient care, recognize emergency situations, and utilize systems to meet patient needs.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (Preferred), Associate’s Degree in Nursing (Preferred), or Program Graduate (Nursing Diploma is minimum; Associate’s or Bachelor’s accepted in lieu of Diploma).
• High School Diploma or GED required only if the applicant holds a Nursing Diploma.

• Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in Virginia (VDHP) or a compact state upon hire.
• CPR/BLS Certification from AHA, ARC, or AISH upon hire.

• Weekend shifts.
• Irregular shifts.
