Behavior Specialist Assistant is responsible for the overall physical, psychological and emotional health and safety of the participants living in one of our residential homes. They provide supports as written in the individual’s support plan, including personal care, physical lifting and therapeutic holds; assist with environment tasks such as cleaning, laundry, shopping, cooking, and budgeting; help the Behavior Specialist and Clinical Director develop teaching procedures and graphic data presentations;
facilitate and monitor crisis intervention and prevention; encourage community engagement; administer medications and treatments as ordered.
All new employees receive paid orientation and training in CPR/First Aid, Safety Care, Defensive Driving, and Medication Administration, plus comprehensive program‑specific training at the work site.
Qualifications Required qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Education, or related field preferred
- Or four years of related experience in lieu of a degree
- Valid driver’s license and good driving record
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Physical demands: able to sit, push, pull, carry, grasp, speak, listen, stoop, bend, stand, twist, crawl, walk, climb, lift up to 50 pounds with assistance
- Experience working with individuals with behavioral challenges
- Experience in mental health and developmental disabilities
- Commitment to help people with varying disabilities participate fully in community and own lives
- Ability to work creatively, engaged, and as a dedicated team member
