The Housing Needs Officer (Level
6) plays a vital role in addressing housing challenges within the community by providing comprehensive support and services to individuals and families in need of housing assistance. This position requires a compassionate yet strategic approach to understand the diverse housing needs of our residents. The Housing Needs Officer will assess housing situations, determine eligibility for various housing programs, and facilitate access to suitable accommodation options.
The role involves collaboration with local housing authorities, social services, and non‑profit organizations to ensure clients receive necessary support and resources. By analyzing data and trends in the housing sector, the officer contributes to the development of policies and programs aimed at improving overall housing accessibility and affordability. The ideal candidate possesses excellent communication and problem‑solving skills, works effectively under pressure, and demonstrates a commitment to promoting social justice and equality in housing.
The officer advocates for the homeless and those at risk while promoting engagement and understanding of housing issues among stakeholders.
- Assess housing needs of individuals and families within the community.
- Coordinate with local agencies to provide housing support and resources.
- Conduct thorough eligibility assessments for housing assistance programs.
- Create comprehensive reports on housing needs and trends in the community.
- Advise clients on available housing options and rights.
- Facilitate access to temporary and permanent housing solutions.
- Monitor case progress and follow up with clients to ensure ongoing support.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to develop initiatives aimed at improving housing affordability and accessibility.
- Bachelor's degree in social work, public policy, or a related field.
- Proven experience in housing policy, social services, or community outreach.
- Strong understanding of housing laws, regulations, and programs.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to analyze data and prepare detailed reports.
- Skilled in conflict resolution and able to tackle sensitive issues with empathy.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast‑paced environment.
Hours Per Week: 37.00
Start Time: 09:00
End Time: 17:00
Pay Per Hour: £21.80
