About the role:
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Mechanical and Electrical Technician to join our team at Slough Sewage Treatment Works, SL1 9EB
.
- Carry out scheduled planned maintenance work on mechanical and electrical equipment in compliance with company procedures to minimise plant breakdowns.
- Investigate plant failures and carry out repairs as quickly and efficiently as possible to avoid interruptions to the process.
- Provide technical advice, refer to up-to-date technical knowledge, and provide training or support for technical trainees if required.
- Work on pumps, 3‑phase motors, starters and controls, electronic control systems such as VSDs, automatic valves and penstocks, flow, level and pressure measurement, PLCs, variable speed drives and controls, chemical handling and dosing equipment.
- Participate in a stand‑by rota following the relevant training.
- Time‑served apprentice with significant experience in mechanical/electrical systems or with NVQ or C&G Level 3 in mechanical/electrical engineering.
- Up‑skilled with a mechanical qualification to allow inspecting, maintaining, fault diagnosis, testing, installing, modifying or repairing mechanical and electrical plant equipment safely and efficiently.
- Strong knowledge and awareness of health and safety issues and the work requires physical fitness, with confined space work training completed.
- Valid driving licence essential.
- Competitive salary up to £45,000 per annum, plus standby rota payments and overtime opportunities up to a further £8,000‑£10,000 per annum.

Working pattern: 38 hours Monday‑Friday 7:30 am – 3:36 pm plus standby & overtime opportunity.
