Drop in Volunteer Arm vegetation & litter

Come and join us, Colne Valley Park and our volunteer groups at the start of the Slough Arm on the towpath opposite Packet Boat Marina entrance on Thursday 18th December between 10:30 and 14:30, for a satisfying days volunteering along the Slough Arm. The main activities will be vegetation clearance around the edge of the canal and aqueduct & litter picking.

All tools, equipment and a hot drink will be provided, together with expert and friendly support. All under 16's need to be accompanied by an adult.

This is a great way to meet other local volunteers and spend a few hours outdoors improving your local waterway environment.

No experience is required, you just need to be willing to get stuck in and get dirty. Please wear old clothes appropriate for the weather conditions (e.g. waterproof jacket, warm layers) and sturdy footwear ideally boots or wellies. If possible, please sign up to let us know you plan on coming along.

The Drop-in Role is all about getting a taste of volunteering at the Trust, joining us at your leisure to take part in open in one of our Welcome Sessions, Let’s volunteering opportunities or, if you’re joining us for the first time, this would be a great opportunity for you to get involved.

We have a host of easy to access volunteer opportunities that will help to make a huge impact to your local canal but without having to.

• One-off taster events including our Welcome Sessions
• Litter Picking
• Let’s activities on the water and on the towpath
• When you register as a volunteer, we will ask you about any unspent convictions which you need to declare and risk assess these as needs be.

• This role is specifically planned without a need for skills or training. As a result of joining it, you’ll find out about other roles where training may either be needed or can be given to help build your skills. No formal skills required.

• The opportunity to decide if volunteering with the Trust is the right place for you as these activities in this role are typically short and one-off.
