Process Technologist Key Responsibilities
You will play a pivotal role at the centre of product development, leading factory trials and supporting the successful launch of new and improved products from concept through to full-scale production. Working cross-functionally with NPD, Technical, Production and Commercial teams, you will ensure customer-approved recipes are scalable, cost-effective, and fully aligned with factory capability, while consistently meeting food safety, quality, and customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Plan, coordinate and lead factory trials and product launches for all NPD and EPD projects.
- Collaborate closely with NPD, Technical, Production and Commercial teams to deliver products in line with customer briefs and agreed timelines.
- Attend and contribute to weekly operations and trial meetings.
- Create, maintain and manage accurate documentation to support NPD critical paths and process development.
- Ensure trials are delivered efficiently and cost-effectively, maximising factory resource and minimising waste.
- Complete all post-trial activities, including organoleptic assessment, freeze/thaw and transit suitability testing, and confirmation of quality standards.
- Review and verify product information received from Development, providing clear feedback and highlighting any issues or risks.
- Coordinate the development of production line standards and QAS, ensuring all trial data is accurately captured and recorded.
- Act as the central point of contact for all factory-based queries relating to new product trials and launches.
- Ensure all products meet customer specifications through appropriate testing, validation and sign-off.
- Maintain full compliance with food safety, hygiene, health & safety, and environmental legislation at all times.
- Previous experience in a Process Technologist or NPD role, ideally within a chilled food manufacturing environment.
- Able to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a collaborative team.
- Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a practical, solutions-focused approach.
- Clear, confident communicator with strong written and verbal skills.
- Proven ability to build effective working relationships with colleagues, customers and suppliers.
- Highly organised with excellent attention to detail.
- Flexible, adaptable and positive, with a proactive “can-do” attitude.
- Full UK driving licence (desirable, not requirement)
