The Opportunity
An established and highly respected critical engineering provider is seeking a Day Mechanical Engineer to join a well-resourced and technically strong team in Slough.
This is a stable, long-term role within a mission-critical environment, offering excellent exposure to complex mechanical plant, a supportive team culture, and clear progression opportunities within a growing organisation.
The Role
Working days only, you will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, and reliability of critical mechanical systems supporting a high-availability site. The role requires a proactive, safety-focused engineer who is comfortable working in live environments where uptime is paramount.
This position is ideal for a mechanically biased engineer looking to build or strengthen a career within critical engineering.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Carry out PPM and reactive maintenance on critical mechanical systems
* Maintain and support plant including chillers, AHUs, CRAC units, FCUs, pumps, pressurisation units, and associated HVAC systems
* Respond effectively to faults, alarms, and mechanical failures to minimise risk and downtime
* Ensure all works are completed under permit-to-work and in line with safe systems of work
* Complete detailed maintenance records, reports, and site documentation
* Work closely with electrical engineers and site management to support 24/7 site resilience
* Contribute to continuous improvement and plant reliability
What You’ll Need
* Mechanical qualification (NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds or equivalent)
* Proven experience within building services or facilities management
* Experience in critical or high-availability environments desirable
* Strong fault-finding skills across HVAC and mechanical plant
* A calm, methodical approach suited to mission-critical operations
Desirable Extras
* Data centre or critical site exposure
* Experience with chilled water systems and large-scale HVAC plant
* Understanding of critical maintenance procedures and compliance
