We are looking to recruit for an Electrical Shift Engineer with extensive understanding of Critical Facilities/Data Centre infrastructure (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing & associated assets). As part of the engineering shift team, you will be responsible for inspection, operation and maintenance of all MEP assets within the critical facility, focusing on critical facilities risk management and service delivery quality.
Responsibilities- Lead Planned, Corrective and Reactive Maintenance tasks as an electrical biased engineer; issue PTW, ensure compliance with method statements and risk assessments.
- Operational understanding of all MEP systems within the facility; propose improvements and provide technical reports.
- Ensure Specialist Vendors service visits are completed efficiently; inspect quality of work; communicate recommendations to the Duty Shift Leader/Assist Chief Engineer.
- Provide shift relief cover as needed; maintain minimum staffing and cover opposite shift.
- Accurately report completed work orders and record critical spares/stock items used.
- Attend Weekly and Quarterly Team Meetings.
- Complete shift handover reports; communicate significant events to oncoming shifts and management.
- Participate in Health and Safety compliance activities (Hazard/Near Miss Reporting, Toolbox Talks).
- Liaise with supply chain when ordering M&E components for remedial/corrective works.
- Take ownership of areas (including plant rooms) to meet show-site standards.
- Evaluate and escalate potential risks with impact assessment, causes and mitigation.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of safe systems of work; comply with H&S policy.
- Complete Reactive, Planned & Corrective Work Orders in line with SFG
20; ensure asset reliability. - Escalate ONWH Alarm Notifications per escalation procedures for EMEA MEP operations.
- Accurate completion of Corrigo Work Orders with time spent and clear details; zero input errors.
- Complete Work Orders efficiently within SLA.
- Minimum of 5 years relevant experience in Critical Environments (e.g., Banking HQ and Data Centres).
- Electrical Engineering apprenticeship or similar (Mechanical Engineering – desirable).
- HVAC Engineering Experience.
- Excellent communication skills; ability to deal with all levels of staff.
- Proactive in achieving high operation standards; good IT and report writing skills.
- Ability to work under pressure; deliver services within time constraints.
- Willingness to attend on- and off-site training for MEP assets (may require nights away for HV training).
- High initiative with drive to improve operations; advanced customer-focused communication.
- Ability to understand and act on verbal and written instructions; proactive, diligent and alert.
- Integrity, honesty and punctuality expected.
