12-Month Fixed Term Contract
This is an excellent opportunity to join the Coronary Care Team at Wexham Park Hospital as a Ward Clerk/Receptionist
. You will play a vital role in supporting the administrative and reception functions of these busy wards, helping to ensure the smooth, efficient, and effective day-to-day running of the service.
This full-time position (37.5 hours per week) requires a proactive, organised, and professional individual who can deliver a high standard of reception and clerical support. You will be working in a fast-paced clinical environment, liaising with patients, visitors, and multidisciplinary teams while managing a wide range of administrative tasks.
Main duties- General clerical and administrative duties
- Managing and dealing with all telephone enquiries, new patients and visitors
- Point of contact for all visitors to the unit
- To maintain patient details on relevant electronic systems updating with necessary requirements such as porting requests
- To manage and update the admission and discharge information system contemporaneously
- Liaise with ward staff to resolve any problems
- Liaise with other departments for example;
Waiting list department, consultants secretaries, pharmacy, emergency department, transport, discharge lounge, site managers, porters etc - To provide administrative support to the nursing and medical staff as required
- Make appointments as necessary
- Ensure general tidiness of Reception areas
- To maintain a safe working environment
- Assisting with audits as required, including data collection
- Reporting of any estates issues via Planet FM and following up these requests

Person specification QualificationsEssential criteria
- High standard of English communication skills (verbal and written)
- GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English
Desirable criteria
- Excel and Word qualification or relevant transferable evidenced experience
Essential criteria
- Previous experience undertaking a range of clerical and administrative tasks
- High Standard of IT literacy/experience in computer use
Desirable criteria
- Previous health care experience
- Previous experience of working within a hospital setting
Essential criteria
- Ability to work unsupervised at times and the ability to prioritise workloads under the guidance of line manager/Shift in Charge
- Ability to communicate effectively in English (written and verbal) with the ability to communicate well at all levels, both face to face and by telephone
- Ability to support clinical staff with patient and carers needs (non-clinical)
- Ability to work within a busy environment
- Flexibility to support another speciality/ward if required
