Geologist/General Science Instructor | Temporary Full-Time AY | Physical Science I02492
Slippery Rock University invites applications for a temporary, full-time position in the Department of Chemistry and Environmental Geosciences beginning August 2026 for the 2026‑2027 academic year. We are seeking a broadly trained geologist to teach undergraduate courses in hydrology and/or mineralogy/petrology. The faculty member will also prepare laboratory activities to support these courses and teach general education courses for non‑majors.
Responsibilities include:
teaching undergraduate courses in hydrology and/or mineralogy/petrology, developing laboratory activities, delivering general education courses, holding student consultation office hours in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement, and participating in scholarly growth and community service.
Minimum Qualifications:
PhD in geology, environmental science, or a related discipline; commitment to the education of diverse populations; and demonstrated performance in an interview.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience teaching geology or hydrology at the undergraduate level.

Submit a cover letter (no more than two pages), a current CV, a teaching philosophy (no more than three pages) focused on teaching geology, a brief research proposal (no more than three pages) focused on undergraduate research, graduate and undergraduate transcripts, at least three references, and complete required background checks.
