Base Pay

$24.00/hr – $32.00/hr

Position Summary

As a Meat Department Lead you will drive sales in your area and supervise your team of hourly associates to deliver more of what they love, for less. You will model expertise in Meat and work collaboratively with other team leaders to ensure the total club meets the member’s expectations.

Key Responsibilities

Be a Team Leader – supervise the team within the meat department to deliver on the business plan, communicate department goals, execute company programs, adhere to policies, and advocate for the member, the associate, and the company. Work collaboratively with other team leaders to ensure the club meets member expectations.
Be an Expert – maintain an in‑depth knowledge of business on the floor, back‑room operations, product updates, and specifications. Ensure the meat department meets company and regulatory standards for quality, inventory, production, equipment usage, safety, sanitation, and compliance. Share knowledge and prioritize training for the team.
Be a Techie – leverage digital tools to plan for and drive sales, improve the shopping experience, and elevate associate engagement. Utilize hand‑held technology to make immediate business decisions related to production, training, and product quality, and adopt new tools while encouraging others to use them.
Be an Owner – drive business results by ensuring commitment to operational excellence, maintaining a neat, clean, and safe work area, and utilizing digital tools for forecasting, planning, and production. Facilitate product inventory and ordering, ensure appropriate staffing and audit compliance, and keep equipment and storage systems in working order.
Be a Talent Ambassador – teach and train the team, identify training needs, develop skills to deliver high quality products, encourage career growth, source talent internally and externally, and implement processes to meet business needs in collaboration with managers and partners.
Lead and participate in teams using resources, information, and tools; determine customer needs and business priorities; coordinate work assignments; provide advice and feedback; model adaptability to change; and support a culture of belonging and continuous improvement.
Act with Integrity – maintain the highest standards of ethics, exemplify Walmart values, and enforce compliance with company policies and procedures.

Additional Compensation

Premiums may be paid in amounts ranging from $0.35 per hour to $3.00 per hour based on schedule, facility, season, or specific work performed. Multiple premiums may apply if criteria are met.

Minimum Qualifications
  • 6 months experience in a meat production department or 6 months experience supervising a team.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Ability to successfully complete all required trainings and assessments within a prescribed time period.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in meat processing, including boneless and bone‑in products.
  • Experience supervising associates.
  • Food Handler Certification (Food Safety).
