Registered Nurse; RN - MedSurg - Nights Avail

Join Ochsner Health as a Registered Nurse (RN) for Med Surg nights. This position offers sign‑on availability and provides an opportunity to contribute to patient care using the nursing process within the framework of the Nurse Practice Act, ANA Code for Nurses, and Scope & Standards of Practice.

• Effectively use the nursing process in the delivery of patient care.
• Assess learning needs and implement teaching strategies appropriate for diverse patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
• Communicate, delegate, and manage nursing team resources (human and fiscal) properly and serve as a leader and partner on the interdisciplinary team.
• Use data, information, and knowledge to evaluate and promote change in order to achieve optimal outcomes.
• Embrace concepts and behaviors that enhance customer satisfaction, employee morale, and professional nursing improvement.
• Adapt behavior to specific patient populations, respecting privacy and tailoring communication and service explanations.
• Perform other related duties as required.

Education

• Required:
  
  Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Preferred:
  Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.

Experience

• Required:
  
  None.

Certifications

• Required:
  
  Current registered nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
• Required:
  
  Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
• Preferred:
  Certification in a clinical specialty area.

• Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally.

• Heavy Work:
  Exerting 50–100 pounds of force occasionally or 25–50 pounds frequently, and/or 10–20 pounds constantly to move objects.
• Physical demand requirements exceed those of sedentary work; work involves walking, standing, and pushing/pulling materials.
• Duties require exposure to blood, body fluids, and tissue; occupational risk for communicable disease and hazardous medication exposure.
