Job OverviewThis position operates in a collaborative outpatient setting, working under the supervision of the Medical Director or approved staff physician and in association with PCCs, staff nurses, and discharge coordinators. The role encompasses primary and urgent medical management, emergency stabilization, education of residents and medical students, staff development, patient education, and discharge planning.
Responsibilities- Utilize the approved medical practices process in the delivery of all patient care.
- Provide care based on physical, psycho/social, educational, safety and related criteria, appropriate to the ages of patients served.
- Maintain an attitude of inquiry toward medical practices and patient care outcomes, and may develop research methodology.
- Provide education experiences to patient families, staff, other health professionals, and the community.
- Adapt behavior to the specific patient population, including respect for privacy, method of introduction, adapting explanations of services, requesting permissions and communication style.
- Perform other related duties as required.
- Education:
- Master’s degree in Nursing (Nurse Practitioner).
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Medicine or Health Sciences, or graduate of an approved Physician Assistant Training Program.
- Experience:
None required; preferred – 3 years related working experience. - Licensure:
- Current license in state of practice as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) or Physician Assistant; NCCPA Certified for PA.
- State prescriptive authority.
- Certifications:
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) / Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
- Family Nurse Practitioner or Adult/Geriatric Nurse Practitioner ANCC or AANPCP Certified;
Pediatric Nurse Practitioner ANCC or AANPCP Certified.
- Computer skills and dexterity for data entry and job information retrieval.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with Windows-style applications and role‑specific software packages.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Working knowledge of Advanced Practice Provider policies and protocols at department, campus and system levels.
- Reliable transportation to travel throughout and between facilities.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including 24/7, weekend, holiday and on‑call availability.
Medium work: may require lifting 20‑50 pounds occasionally, 10‑25 pounds frequently, or more; frequent walking, standing, and pushing or pulling of light objects. Must be able to stand for prolonged periods, stoop, bend, reach, and handle manual dexterity tasks. Exposure to blood, body fluids, tissues, hazardous medications, waste, and communicable diseases is possible.
