OverviewThis job acts as a leader in the provision of patient care using the nursing process within the framework of the Nurse Practice Act, ANA Code for Nurses and Scope & Standards of Practice. It involves effective delegation, direction, and assistance of licensed and ancillary team members, with accountability for quality patient outcomes and sensitivity to cultural, ethnic, and religious diversity.
Responsibilities- Effectively uses the nursing process in the delivery of patient care.
- Assesses learning needs and implements teaching strategies appropriate for the diverse needs of the patient, family and other groups or disciplines.
- Communicates, delegates, and manages nursing team resources (human and fiscal) properly and serves as a leader and partner on the interdisciplinary team.
- Utilizes data, information, and knowledge to evaluate and promote change in order to achieve optimal outcomes.
- Embraces concepts and behaviors that enhance customer satisfaction and employee morale and improvement in the profession of nursing.
- Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, respecting privacy and communication style.
- Performs other related duties as required.
- Education:
Registered nurse diploma. - Education (preferred):
Associate or Bachelor’s degree in nursing. - Experience (required):
None. - Licensure:
Current registered nurse (RN) license in state of practice. - Certifications (required):
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) Certification within 30 days of hire, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within 90 days of hire, Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 90 days of hire. - Certifications (preferred):
Certification in Clinical Specialty Area.
- Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process.
- Good organizational and time management skills and ability to be self‑directed.
- Ability to demonstrate good judgement.
- Good interpersonal skills.
Heavy work includes exerting 50–100 pounds of force occasionally, 25–50 pounds frequently, and 10–20 pounds constantly to move objects. The job requires walking, standing, and pushing or pulling materials. Duties involve routine exposure to blood, body fluids, tissue, and potential hazardous medications or waste. Occupational risk for exposure to communicable diseases is inherent in patient care.
