This role engages in advanced clinical social work practice in the medical setting based on the application of social work theory, knowledge, ethics and methods to restore or enhance, social, psychosocial or bio‑psychosocial functioning of individuals, couples, families, groups, organizations and communities. Applies specialized clinical knowledge and advanced clinical skills in the areas of prevention, assessment and treatment of mental, emotional, behavioral and addictive disorders;

engages in multi‑disciplinary treatment planning and clinical social work duties and coordinates and implements complex discharge plans through the use of the company and community‑based services.

Sign On Bonus

Sign‑on bonus up to $15,000 available for eligible LCSWs.

Education
  • Required:

    Master’s degree in social work (MSW).
  • Required:

    60 semester‑hour graduate degree in professional mental health counselling from a regionally accredited university.
Work Experience
  • Required:

    5 years of related experience for LCSW.
  • Preferred:
    Experience in a Medical Social Work Field.
  • Required:

    None for LPC.
  • Preferred:
    Two years related work experience in direct patient counselling for LPC.
Certifications
  • Required:

    Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) as verified by the Louisiana State Board of Social Work Examiners (LABSWE) and able to engage in independent practice.
  • Required:

    Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or Licensed Professional Counselor‑Supervisor (LPC‑S) license in state of practice.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification to be obtained within 2 weeks of hire*.
  • Must have or obtain within 90 days of hire the LA LPC Board approval to perform Teletherapy in state(s) of practice.
  • Preferred:
    Certification in Brief Psychiatric Rating Scale (BPRS).
Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities

(KSAs)
  • Good knowledge of common disease entities and disorders and medical terminology.
  • Excellent psychotherapeutic skills.
  • Superior interpersonal skills and ability to deal effectively and courteously with patients, families, multi‑disciplinary team members, departmental peers and community agency personnel.
  • Advanced knowledge of an acute and chronic care medical setting, medical terminology and the psychosocial and economic effects of illness and/or trauma upon the patient and their support system.
  • Advanced knowledge of managed care and public programmes such as those funded by Medicare, Medicaid and Medicare Advantage.
  • Proficiency in using computers, software, and web‑based applications.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process.
Job Duties
  • Interview and assess patients and assist throughout patient care plan.
  • Identify and provide helpful resources to patients and families.
  • Maintain patient records and documents and communicate critical information to the medical team.
  • Adapt behaviour to the specific patient population.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
