About This Role

Textron Systems is seeking engineers of all disciplines to support the United States Marine Corps Advanced Reconnaissance Vehicle (ARV) program. For this program, Textron Systems has developed the Cottonmouth® ARV, a recon vehicle to be feared and a force‑multiplier armed to the fangs with advanced full‑spectrum reconnaissance and surveillance sensors. It’s expertly designed to defeat threats beyond line of sight and comes complete with cutting‑edge technologies that will keep adversaries up tonmouth was developed using a Modular Open Systems Approach (MOSA) that is Ground Vehicle Operating System (GVOS) based employing the Tactical Assault Kit Extended (TAK‑X) framework for easy capability integration.

This modern vehicle platform has superior mobility capabilities to tackle treacherous off‑road terrain and waterways while keeping Marines safe thanks to its advanced survivability suite and Human System Interface (HSI) focus. Amphibious mobility, unrivaled versatility, and electronic warfare capabilities define a vehicle that is adaptable, stealthy and thrives wherever enemies hide. Our teams are engaged in multiple cutting‑edge development programs for defense applications.

Responsibilities
  • Perform hardware engineering activities within a team of Mechanical, Electrical, and Software Engineers.
  • Develop imaginative, thorough, practicable technical solutions to a wide range of difficult Mechanical Engineering problems.
  • Contribute to concept development as part of internal cross‑functional design teams, including prototyping, production, and test support.
  • Perform detailed design of mechanical structures and subsystems using solid modeling, requirements analysis, trade studies, mechanical engineering analysis (including structural, dynamics, and thermal), drafting and tolerance analysis, and human interface design.
  • Prepare high‑quality formal engineering documentation such as drawings, specifications, design presentations to customers, test plans, and test reports.
  • Support proposal activity, providing input to cost estimates and risk assessments.
  • Brief peers, management, and customers on design considerations and program status.
Qualifications
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including preparation of design documentation.
  • Effective presentation skills.
  • Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office products (i.e., Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Visio).
  • Desire and ability to operate in a team environment is required.
  • Desire and ability to lead teams or individuals in design, manufacturing, or troubleshooting taskings.
  • Experience with mechanism development, generating Free Body Diagrams, performing basic static/dynamic/structural hand calculations, prototyping, packaging, performance specifications, material tests, and research investigations.
  • Familiarity with and ability to use computer‑aided design tools is required;
    Solidworks and Autocad are preferred, Magic Draw and Jira are a plus.
  • Experience designing tests for military environmental, shock, and vibration qualifications. []
  • Temperament to work in the lab, shop floor, or office.
  • Familiarity with ASME drawing standards is preferred.
  • Ability to get a security clearance.
Education & Experience Levels

Experience levels will be determined by a hiring team. We are looking for candidates with a bachelor’s and/or master’s degree in mechanical engineering, electro‑mechanical engineering, or a related field. Experience recommendations below. In compliance with the local pay transparency law, the pay range for this position is:

  • Level I Engineer: typically, 0 – 1 year of experience
  • Level II Engineer: typically, 2+ years of experience
  • Level III Engineer: typically, 5+ years of experience
  • Level IV Engineer: typically, 9+ years of experience
