General ResponsibilitiesTo deliver rigorous, relevant instruction and to facilitate student participation and opportunity for mastery to students in assigned classes
Essential Job Functions- Provides a stimulating teaching-learning environment, making use of a variety of instructional tools and teaching aids as provided by the teacher, school and/or district. Reviews with the principal, facilitator, department chair or team leader all plans and schedules to be followed during the teaching day.
- Attends all meetings called by the Principal or Superintendent unless excused by the person calling the meeting.
- Actively participates in the duties, curriculum work groups, committees, or other groups to which the teacher may be assigned.
- Maintains high expectations for student conduct and enforces expectations in all school environments.
- Maintains the established routines and procedures of the school and classroom to which he/she is assigned.
- Utilizes approved instructional material and appropriate equipment or technology for educational purposes.
- Consults with the building principal (facilitator, department chair, team leader) before initiating any teaching or other procedures not specified in the lesson plan.
- Maintains appropriate supervision of students at all times.
- Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as the Principal, Superintendent or his or her designee may assign.
- Must have an appropriate Illinois Professional Educators License (PEL) as an elementary classroom teacher.
- Experience in a K-8 learning environment.
- Must have the ability to work effectively with students, staff, and members of the public in a tactful and courteous manner.
- Must have oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills.
- Requires an understanding of confidentiality.
- Requires strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Physical Exam within year of hire date.
- Valid First Aid/CPR cards preferred.
Moderate degree of physical stamina with occasional lifting of 10 to 15 pounds and occasional lifting up to 50 pounds required in the physical assistance of students with special needs. Ability to move freely to various locations within the classroom, office and other business and community settings. Frequent standing, walking, sitting, and bending. Frequent repetitive activities including hands, arms, and legs for clerical related work.
Exposure to noise and activity of a school setting. Exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
$250/day
