Responsibilities

The Junior High Assistant Principal supports the Principal in providing instructional and operational leadership, with a primary focus on fostering a positive school culture, promoting staff development, and advancing equity-centered social-emotional and behavioral systems. The Assistant Principal plays a critical role in coaching and supporting teachers, leading student support systems, and building strong relationships across the school community. This position ensures that school-wide expectations, climate, and learning conditions promote the academic and social-emotional growth of all students and align with the district's strategic priorities.

Qualifications
  • Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with Principal Endorsement required
  • Successful teaching experience at the junior high or middle school level
  • Demonstrated knowledge of curriculum, instruction, assessment, and professional learning
  • Strong background in student support systems, behavior frameworks, and SEL practices
  • Proven ability to build relationships, resolve conflict, and promote a positive school culture
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive practices
  • Preferred but not required;
    Bilingual endorsement/approval or fluency in a second language, in addition to English
Salary / Benefits
  • Leave: 9 Paid Holidays / 12-20 Sick Days (depending on years of service) / 2 Personal Days
  • FLSA Status: Exempt
  • Retirement: TRS
  • Benefits: As outlined in the District 68 administrative benefits plan, family health insurance benefit with the full premium cost for the HMO, PPO, HDHP, or PPO (paid by the Board of Education)
  • Salary: Commensurate with experience ($90,000 - $140,000)
