At Chemist4U, we're looking for a Senior Software Developer (Serverless AWS Developer) to join us in a fully remote role. This role requires the building of software products across different areas of the business, such as the backend to the Native App, B2B applications and integrations around the NHS. This role encompasses working with the rest of the team to build features, investigate and fix bugs and improve our offerings.
Key Responsibilities Software Development- Design, develop, and enhance software using AWS Serverless technologies (Node.js, Type Script, CDK, React).
- Build scalable solutions for backend systems, integrations, and applications.
- Take ownership of products within your squad.
- Peer review code and collaborate with other developers to deliver high‑quality solutions.
- Work closely with the team, Software Architects and stakeholders to design and implement solutions.
- Drive best practices such as TDD, design patterns, and CI/CD processes.
- Ensure code quality and maintainability through robust testing and documentation.
- Integrate front‑end and full stack workflows into CI/CD pipelines using tools like Git Hub Actions or Azure Dev Ops.
- Ensure smooth deployment processes and support release readiness.
- Contribute to monitoring, logging, and alerting strategies for front‑end services.
- Stay up to date with industry trends, especially in serverless technologies.
- Contribute to process improvements and quality assurance initiatives.
- Establish and maintain automated testing practices using tools like Jest, React Testing Library, and Cypress.
- Optimize application performance across devices and browsers.
- Monitor and address technical debt, ensuring long‑term code quality and maintainability.
- Work closely with product managers, designers, and other developers to deliver features aligned with business goals.
- Mentor junior and mid‑level developers, providing guidance through code reviews, pair programming, and knowledge sharing.
- Foster a collaborative and inclusive engineering culture.
The ideal candidate will have proven experience in serverless development, with a strong focus on AWS technologies. You will have solid programming skills in one or more languages, with Type Script preferred, and a deep understanding of modern JavaScript, component‑based architecture, and state management. You should have experience building and consuming RESTful APIs, along with familiarity with backend technologies such as Node.js
or similar. Proficiency with version control systems, particularly Git, is essential.
- A relevant degree such as Computer Science or a professional development course.
- AWS certification preferable.
- Strong experience in working with Node.js and AWS.
- Experience in Frontend web technologies, frameworks such as React preferred.
- Experience in working with APIs, either REST or Graph
QL. - Experience working with Agile practices.
- Demonstrable knowledge of AWS Serverless technologies.
- Experience in Infrastructure‑as‑Code, CDK or similar.
- Experience in CI/CD processes and unit‑testing.
- Knowledge of SQL or No
SQL databases. - Strong knowledge in computer science fundamentals, design patterns, web technologies, event‑driven architectures, and so on.
