Maintenance Technician / Mechanic, Operations Engineer
About the Role

Salary & Benefits- Salary: £47,727 (including shift allowance)
- Quarterly bonus up to £3,200 pa

- Work as part of a team to provide a high level of technical support to Engineering and Operations.
- Ensure planned maintenance requirements are met and support reactive maintenance activities.
- Collaborate with Maintenance Planners, Line Engineering Leads and Manufacturing Technicians to complete planned maintenance.
- Provide reactive support to Shift Technicians and Operations teams when required.
- Monitor specialist support, preventative work orders and in‑depth analysis countermeasures.
- Support specialist teams in action completion and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Verify maintenance plans, task instructions and store holdings are correct.
- Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives, preventive actions and health & safety actions.
- Own root cause analysis completion.
- Create visual management for planned maintenance tasks.
- Act as an ambassador for engineering standards and best practice across the site.
The role will involve working a 42.5‑hour day shift with 3 × 12‑hour day shifts and an additional 6‑hour shift on alternate Wednesdays or Fridays. The role includes weekends and bank holidays.
Skills and Experience Required- Experience in a similar engineering role with an electrical or mechanical bias, or a multi‑skilled role within FMCG or another manufacturing company.
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent engineering apprenticeship with hands‑on experience (essential).
- Recognised mechanical academic qualification.
- Strong electro‑mechanical knowledge.
- Familiarity with CMMS and SCADA systems.
- Solid understanding of equipment and technical standards.
- Ownership of safety, quality and performance.
- Problem‑solving and good communication skills.
- Own transport (required).
