We are a small family‑owned and run company based in Sittingbourne, Kent, UK. We specialise in the supply, repair, maintenance, hire, testing and LOLER inspections of all types of general lifting equipment. We also manufacture wire rope & chain slings to customer requirements. With over 42 years of trading and 90 years of collective experience, the company holds ISO 9002 and Safe Contractor approvals.

Role Description

Due to an expanding workload, we have a vacancy to add to our experienced staff. This is a full‑time role for a qualified Lifting Gear Engineer based in our Sittingbourne works. Responsibilities include carrying out LOLER inspections, maintaining, and repairing various items of customers’ lifting equipment, ensuring compliance with safety standards and regulations. The role includes routine inspections, testing, troubleshooting, and problem resolution both in our works and on customer sites throughout the UK, primarily in London and the South East.

Collaboration with team members and accurate reporting and documentation are also key aspects.

The company owns vans and trucks for travel to site locations. The successful applicant should hold a clean UK driving licence and be able to travel to our Sittingbourne base where parking is available. Normal working hours are Monday to Friday, 8 am to 5 pm with flexibility for earlier starts to travel to sites. Rare occasional overnight stays may be required for locations that are a considerable distance from our base.

Holidays: 28 days per annum, including bank holidays.

Qualifications
  • Experience maintaining, repairing and inspecting lifting gear and equipment for safety and functionality
  • Strong technical knowledge of lifting gear, tools, and machinery
  • Ability to conduct fault diagnostics, troubleshoot issues, and implement effective solutions
  • Familiarity with health and safety regulations related to lifting equipment
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work independently and take responsibility for assigned tasks
  • Relevant technical qualifications or certifications in engineering or operation of lifting equipment
  • Previous experience in a similar role or in the marine and industrial services industry is advantageous
