Responsibilities:
  • Perform and coordinate a wide range of nursing procedures, applying professional knowledge tailored to individual patient conditions.
  • Independently manage clinical decisions during shifts while maintaining accountability and consulting supervisors as necessary.
  • Supervise and delegate tasks to nursing assistants and technicians to optimize patient care.
  • Uphold patients' rights to privacy and equitable treatment, ensuring compliance with infection control and safety protocols.
  • Maintain comprehensive and accurate documentation, including nurses' notes and physicians' orders.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary personnel to develop, implement, and evaluate patient care plans and nursing policies.
  • Participate in ongoing staff training, meetings, and professional development.
  • Manage inventory of medications, medical supplies, and equipment, reporting needs promptly.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program (BSN, ADN, or Diploma).
  • Current, unrestricted RN license in Alaska or the ability to obtain one prior to starting.
  • Certification in BLS, ACLS, and PALS required within six months of hire.
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification preferred, especially for ED roles.
  • Ability to work independently, make sound clinical judgments, and maintain emotional stability under stress.
  • Previous acute care, emergency, or long-term care experience preferred but not mandatory.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and supervisory skills.
  • Physical ability to safely lift and move patients and handle clinical duties.
