2026 Seafood Processor - Sitka (PRCSSR - SSS)

Adventure ahead! We are looking for energetic, adventurous, hardworking people to join our team. Seafood processing is an incredible way to experience the beautiful landscape of Alaska, home to some of the world’s largest and most sustainable wild fisheries. This is a chance to work hard, save on expenses, meet a variety of people from around the world, and produce healthy protein for worldwide consumption.

Seafood processors perform a variety of manual labor tasks. Once the fishing fleet delivers seafood to our docks, our processing employees move the product through our production line until it is shipped in bulk to customers and cold storage facilities worldwide. Our plant operates year-round. However, hours of work depend on fishery.

Job duties may include, but not limited to:

  • Offloading product from vessels
  • Sorting, butchering, cleaning, cutting, filleting, trimming, and boxing various seafood products
  • Operating plant machinery, a forklift or pallet jack
  • Loading product, boxes, pallets, or carts of product into or out of freezers or refrigerated vans
  • Guiding product into automated machinery
  • Cleaning or sanitizing the work area

To preserve our food products at the peak of freshness, our plants operate 24/7 during our peak season. Employees may be asked to work up to 16 hours per day, seven days a week. You are expected to work when there is fish on the premises. There are no scheduled days off. There may be several days or weeks of full production, and there may be several days with little or no production.

There is no way to predict how much work will be available since this is a wild fishery, and it is important to understand that work hours are dependent on fish.

Lots of fish = Lots of work, No fish = No work

Wages and Benefits

$17.91 / regular hour; $26.87 / overtime hour – Payroll is processed Bi-Weekly

In Alaska, employees are paid overtime after eight regular hours in a day, and after 40 regular hours in a week.

NPSI provides transportation from the nearest major airport to the work location and back if you complete the season.

Employees live on site in communal bunkhouses with shared facilities, rooms are assigned based on gender identity, bed linens are provided. Laundry is the employees’ responsibility, but we provide washers/dryers and detergent free of charge.

With no onsite expenses, and hopefully a large fish run, this is often a great way to make money in a relatively short period of time. There are additional opportunities for pay such as referral bonuses.
