What You Will Be Doing
- Provide high quality personal care to assisted living home residents in a warm, supportive, and caring manner. Follow the resident’s Assisted Living Plan and assist residents with lifting, turning, moving, positioning, transporting into and out of bed, wheelchair, bathtubs, lifts, and using walkers and canes, etc.
- Assist residents with programs that promote physical well‑being and relationships by involving residents in activities where they engage in meaningful person‑to‑person social interchange with other residents, family, friends, and staff.
- Teamwork – Encourage cooperation, pride, trust, and group identity; foster commitment and team spirit; work with others to achieve goals.
- Flexibility – Open to change and new information; adapt behavior or work methods in response to new information, changing conditions, or unexpected obstacles; effectively deal with ambiguity.
- Physical Strength and Agility – Ability to bend, lift, climb, stand, and walk for long periods of time; perform moderately heavy laboring work.
- Listening – Receive, attend to, interpret, and respond to verbal messages and other cues such as body language in ways that are appropriate to listeners and situations.
- Interpersonal Skills – Treat others with courtesy, sensitivity, and respect. Consider and respond appropriately to the needs and feelings of different people in different situations.
- Opportunities to make a positive impact on the quality of life for Alaskan elders by providing excellent person‑centered loving care and services.
- Work surrounded by elder residents with many years of life experiences and wisdom who are in varying stages of their life journey.
This job is located at the Sitka Pioneer Home, an assisted living home in the heart of downtown at 120 Katlian Street in Sitka, Alaska. Imagine working in an environment on a beautiful waterfront campus, renowned for its gorgeous and aromatic rose hedges and scenic views.
