The Wate r/Wastewater Manager will be responsible for implementing, updating, and administering Environmental policies, procedures, programs, and training at assigned location(s) to ensure compliance with all Company and governmental regulations and standards and will oversee programs that protect Trident employees and assets.
Essential functions (responsibilities, tasks, supervisory needs)- Implements and oversees the administration and training of policies and procedures for all wastewater processes within the facility.
- Manages and maintains industrial water treatment system and Level 2 domestic wastewater treatment system and small treated water system (non-transient, non-community system), including collection and conveyance systems.
- Coordinates, trains, and provides technical expertise to other wastewater treatment operations staff and coordinates on-site responses to unusual occurrences and emergencies.
- Collect wastewater samples, conduct laboratory tests, perform maintenance on wastewater treatment system.
- Responds to emergencies involving release to pollutants to the wastewater treatment system.
- Ensures compliance with environmental permits and regulations associated with the drinking water system and domestic wastewater treatment system. Investigate incidents resulting in noncompliance and ensure required notifications are completed timely.
- Maintains knowledge of Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and other related regulations, updating programs as necessary
- Maintains documentation for regulatory and Company compliance.
- Provides support during EPA and any other regulatory audits.
- Responsible for up to 7 direct reports.
- Manages and monitors the performance of assigned teams to ensure they meet required standards and KPI’s.
- Works with HR and local management to resolve personnel and performance issues and determine appropriate course of action.
Employees working in Alaska are advised to have medical insurance coverage which is valid in the State of Alaska.
Required Qualifications (education, years of experience, KSAs)- A combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree and five years of related experience in Wastewater treatment in a manufacturing, production or related industry
- 2 years of prior supervisory or people leadership experience
- Must have Operator Level II Wastewater Certification (or higher) from the state of Alaska or an appropriate reciprocal license from an accredited state.
- Operator Level IV Wastewater Certification from the state of Alaska or an appropriate reciprocal license from an accredited state.
- HAZWOPER certification is required or ability to obtain within 6 months.
- Experience in or Wastewater treatment in a manufacturing, production, or related industry
- Knowledge of wastewater treatment processes, including preliminary, primary, secondary, digestion, sludge handling, water, chemical, electrical, and hydraulic support systems
- Knowledge of and skill in applying sampling, testing, and laboratory procedures
- Ability to work in confined spaces.
- Skill in operating complex computer control systems and identifying normal and abnormal operating conditions.
- Skill in operating basic hand and power tools and specialized equipment
- Ability to establish and evaluate strategic goals and metrics for measuring success.
- Strong collaboration, analytical, influential, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including comfort interfacing with site management.
- Must be results-oriented with the ability to drive continuous improvement within the Water/Wastewater department as well as the overall organization.
- Strong working knowledge of technology and equipment used in environmental inspections.
